Man pending arraignment in suspicious death

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On Feb. 11 at approximately 4:19 p.m., officers were called to the 2300 block of Southampton Ave. following a fire call for a strong odor of gas at a home. Officers found a 53-year-old Flint woman, the homeowner, who was deceased. Authorities began a suspicious death investigation and, according to officials, arrested a 47-year-old Flint man. The man was awaiting arraignment on Monday. — P.S.

Woman arrested on retail fraud charge

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On Feb. 12 at 12:45 p.m., officers were called to the 6100 block of South Saginaw, where a 35-year-old Flint woman was being detained by Loss Prevention officers. They stated they had observed her enter through the Garden Center and take a grocery bag and then proceeded to fill it with several snack and food items and attempt to leave without paying. The merchandise was valued at $45 and she was arrested and charged with retail fraud. — P.S.

Man cited and released for OWI

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On Feb. 11 at 2:29 a.m., in the 2000 block of Hill Road, officers found a blue Chevrolet Cobalt stuck in the snow in the ditch. The driver, a 23-year-old Grand Blanc man, was found to smell of intoxicants and appeared to be intoxicated. Field sobriety tests were administered, which police say he failed, and he scored a .17 on the Preliminary Breath Test and a .15 on additional blood alcohol level testing. The vehicle was impounded and the man was released to the custody of a friend as county jail procedures prohibit detaining suspects who have been in automobile accidents. He was charged with operating while intoxicated (OWI). — P.S.
