Div. 2 team district at Croswell- Lexington

Goodrich, currently ranked No. 9 in the Div. 2 state rankings, will be at the team district at Croswell-Lexington today. Goodrich will open the meet against Imlay City, which is unranked.

The Martians finished the season undefeated in the Genesee Area Conference, with a 7-0 league record and a first-place finish at the GAC tournament. Overall, Goodrich was 14-5 on the season. The Spartans started the season out strong, but have struggled in recent weeks due to injuries. Imlay City was 3-3 in the Blue Water Area Conference and 13-12 overall. Imlay City took last at the BWAC tournament and had only sixth wrestlers compete.

The winner of Imlay City and Goodrich will move on to wrestle against the winner of the North Branch and Cros-Lex match, which takes place at 5:30 p.m., for a spot at team regionals. Goodrich has faced neither team this season. Imlay City did not wrestle against North Branch at all this season, but Cros-Lex has stumped Imlay City twice already. The Spartans fell to Cros-Lex 42-27 at Imlay City’s own tournament and then lost a close 37-34 match up during a league meet. Cros-Lex will be a strong opponent for any team it faces as it sits at 3-2 league record but a 31-5 overall record.

The final team left standing between the four will advance to the team regionals to face the winner of the Fenton district, which includes Fenton, Linden, Holly and Brandon, on February 14 for a shot to advance to the team finals at the Wings Events Center in Kalamazoo on February 23 and 24.
