Grand Blanc golf headed to state meet

Two Goodrich girls also qualify

Photos by Austin VanDaele HARTLAND – The Grand Blanc girls’ golf team sealed its trip to the Div. 1 state finals after taking third with a 343 at last Wednesday’s regional at Hartland Glen Golf Course in Hartland. Brighton won the regional with a 322 and Hartland was second with 326. The top three teams and top three individuals not on a qualifying team.

Katherine Mansour led the team with a 79 and Madison Brigance shot an 87. Cameryn Cass came through with an 88, Abby Britton shot an 89 and Taylor Kondel 96.

The Bobcats compete at the Div. 1 state meet Oct. 19-20 at Bedford Valley in Battle Creek. – B.P.

Div. 3 at Pontiac Country Club

The Goodrich girls narrowly missed a trip to the state finals, carding a 372 team total and placing fourth at the Div. 3 regional last Thursday. However, Elizabeth Gibbs placed second overall with a 76. As the top finisher not on a qualifying team, Gibbs will represent the Lady Martians in the Div. 3 state finals Friday and Saturday at Forest Akers East at Michigan State University. She will be joined by teammate Madeline Swett, who carded a 98 in 13th place, as the third and final individual qualifier.

They were followed by Marysville in second with a 364 and Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood with a 368. The other individual qualifier was Charlotte Thibault of Warren Regina, who shot an 89 and placed fifth overall. All three teams and Thibault will advance to the final round this weekend.
